Footage of a black man being confronted by gun-wielding officers as he picked litter in his backyard has sparked a police investigation.

The video reveals the person on the entrance garden of his house in Boulder, Colorado, asking an officer why he has his gun drawn.

He says: “You might be on my property with a gun in your hand threatening to shoot me as a result of I am choosing up trash.

“You are not going to get away with homicide. You are not. Not immediately. Not immediately. You are not going to get away with homicide.”

The person can also be heard shouting: “I haven’t got a weapon. It is a bucket.

“This is my property, This is my house. I live here.”

The officer requires again up on his radio through the incident, which is filmed by a second individual contained in the property who’s heard saying: “Eight officers of the regulation with weapons drawn for selecting up rubbish on our property the place we dwell.

“He is picking up trash and you have your hand on your gun? Go home. Go home.”

An officer asks the person exterior to sit down down, and he replies. “No. I cannot sit down, I refuse to sit down down till you guys put your f****** weapons away.

“You might be losing police sources. There are individuals on the market committing against the law.

“I do not wish to speak to any of you boys, I would like you to get off my property.

“I am taking out rubbish on my property… and an officer of the regulation comes out of nowhere and begins harassing me.

“I don’t know who he is and out of respect I gave him my ID.”

Later, an officer says to him: “This isn’t over. Just take a deep breath. You are angry and escalating and it’s likely you’ve got profile so we’ll pick it up at a different time, not right here, right now.”

Because the police go away, the individual filming provides: “That shotgun is used for killing people and that garbage clamp is used for picking up garbage and they pulled guns on him.”

The officers in the end decided that the person had a authorized proper to be on the property and returned his college ID card.

No additional motion was taken following the confrontation on 1 March.

Boulder police started trying into the episode and on Thursday launched an inner investigation.
